Lead by the British Council: With the aim of creating a collaborative working space for image sector practitioners for the month of March 2018 we opened our Innovation Month doors to 365 practitioners every Tuesday to Sunday from 6th until 31st March 2018 from 11am until 8pm to make sure that those working could also benefit from this space and equipment.
Through series workshops, exercises and guest talk, the 117 artists who attended regularly managed to meet new artists, build a team and together developed a collaborative arts project. Once each team had finalised their group project ideas they then got the chance to present and get feedback from a panel of experts comprising of:
- Mifta Zeleke – Curator & Founder of Guramayne Art Center
- Fikirte Addis – Designer & Founder of Yefikir Design
- Girma Berta – Getty Images Award winner Photographer
- Abraham Asrat – EBC Radio and TV journalist
- Selamawit Workeneh – British Council’s Arts Programme Officer
Thereafter, each team used the remaining of the month within the Innovation Month space to build together their Collaborative Arts Project.
On 28th May 2018, in order to support these participating artists present their work to the public confidently we conducted a Presentation Skills Creative Hustle .
And finally the outputs from our 19 Innovation Month teams were showcased to the public at Alle School of Arts & Design on 1st June 2018 to over 400 visitors in one night.
